The weather matched our high spirits yesterday at the outdoor festive pet-friendly event at the Soho Grand, hosted by Freshpet, the incredible maker of real, fresh foods for pets. This week is touted as the "Take your pet to work" week, so the event was timely - though yesterday, it was truly all about adopting and caring for some of the many amazing dogs looking for a good home.

On hand were the healthy, fresh foods and snacks for dogs; shelter dogs from both ASPCA and Animal Haven; veterinarian Dr. Katy Nelson; members of the Freshpet team and many editors getting the word out that adopting, not shopping for pets, is the best way to welcome your newest 4-legged member of the family home!

What was incredible about this event were the many upbeat volunteers from both the ASPCA and Animal Haven, who brought the most adorable, loving and playful group of dogs to the outdoor dog park at Soho Grand Hotel.

As part of that commitment, Freshpet has donated over 3 million meals to shelters and rescues across the country. This year, Freshpet has teamed up with non-profit NYC shelters Animal Haven www.animalhavenshelter.org and the ASPCA NYC www.aspca.org/nyc to help shelter pets, which number in the millions across the U.S., find happy and loving homes. From now until July 31, 2017, Freshpet will be offering Animal Haven and the ASPCA NYC adoptees free Freshpet food and coupons to help their new pet get started on a fresh, healthy diet.
“It is a fact that people who have pets live a happier and healthier life.” Says Dr. Katy Nelson, associate veterinarian at the Belle Haven Animal Medical Centre in Alexandria, VA, as well as the host and executive producer of "The Pet Show with Dr. Katy. “And if you have a pet and take it to work – experts agree that pet-friendly workplaces make happier employees.”

To honor and help pets get adopted, ASPCA and Animal Haven Teamed up with Freshpet, the only fresh refrigerated pet food company www.freshpet.com; Dr Katy Nelson, host of the Show to help pet in need. Anyone who adopts a pet from Animal Haven or ASPCA from now until July 31, 2017 will receive a free supply of Freshpet to get them off to the healthiest start.

If you would like to adopt a pet, reach out to either shelter. Since they are NYC based, they need to place larger dogs in homes with yards, and asked for us to share the news here.
Also, TheJerseyTomatoPress will be featuring some of the dogs up for adoption here in upcoming days, so check back.

To find Freshpet for your dog or cat, go to your pet food aisle and look in the refrigerators - since this is where the fresh foods are kept. My dog Marley is quite a fan of the rolls, and this is NOT an ad!
